Fred Franzia, famous for his prowess at bringing very decent wines to folks like you and I at bargain prices, has done it again. Well known for his Charles Shaw label, often referred to as "two buck Chuck" (750ml bottles were being sold at Costco and Trader Joe's on the west coast for just two dollars), Fred has managed to produce some mighty fine wine under the Crane Lake label (see the review of Crane Lake chardonnay in the white wine section).
So, in a nutshell, Crane Lake merlot is fruit forward and medium-bodied with a lovely, smooth finish. Another jug wine you just couldn't go wrong with, especialy at the price.
