There's been a chill in the air, so it's about time
we went back to "reds". Yellow Tail Shiraz is typical of the Shiraz
gang from south east Australia. Full in flavor and plumlike with a tiny bit
of sweetness. In a word, good, if you like Shiraz. (Yellow Tail's web site
will talk about cracked pepper, spice and vanilla, but I don't taste it.)
The Chianti/Bardolino/Cabernet group will, most likely, not be impressed.
This is a good wine to pair with beef and duck. And when dining out (Yellow
Tail or a similar Australian Shiraz is on most wine lists today) it's reasonable
price will let you indulge in an extra appetizer or dessert without breaking
the bank. A toast to Australia!
Prices range from $8.49 at "Bottles & Cases" on Long Island
(a GREAT buy) to $14.99 in Manhattan. Typically twelve or thirteen bucks
a mag.
