Wine Enthusiast magazine gives this California beauty an 87 and I'd have to agree. As a jug wine I rate it a solid 9, which puts it among my 3 highest ranked wines to date. For starters, you can tell it's a Sauvignon Blanc. Very important because most jugs, with the exception of the over oaked Chardonnays and most Aussie Chiraz, though pleasant to drink, give you no clue as to their origin.

With aromas of honeydew and flavors of pear and lime, Barefoot Sauvignon Blanc is a standout for casual sipping and pairs well with all light foods. It has been the recipient of numerous awards and to find it in 1.5 L "jugs" at !$8.99! is a beautiful thing.

Founded in 1986, Michael Houlihan and Bonnie Harvey introduced Barefoot Cellars wines. "We loved the name and the concept of being barefoot and living the carefree lifestyle," stated Harvey. They launched the brand with two varietals, Barefoot California Cabernet Sauvignon and Barefoot California Sauvignon Blanc. Today the winery produces Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and White Zinfandel. Watch for more "Barefoot" reviews.
