Kourtaki Dry White Wine
Winery: D. Kourtakis SA
Style: Dry White
Year: N/A
Price Range: $7 and up
Rating: 4.5/10

With all my attention on California, Australia, and South America, I thought it was time to look in a different direction. Greece.

Kourtaki is a white table wine from Attica. It's a no-style, no vintage year, no frills white that comes in a screw top mag with a slightly tacky label. The back label describes it as "a crisp refreshing wine for everyday drinking enjoyment that comes from Greece's leading wine producer." I'll call it a thin, non-descript, dry white with absolutely no character. Kind of like what you'd get at a cheap wedding if you'd asked for a glass of white wine. Nevertheless it beats Carlo Rossi chablis and deserves a review.

So...bottom line...if Kourtaki is well chilled (almost to the point of freezing) and it's a hot summer day, you'll probably drink more than one and find that the next glass tastes better than the last. It also works well in a spritzer and the price is certainly right. A good summer barbecue wine when you're having a hundred people and don't want to serve Gallo gallons but also don't want to go broke.
