Okay, before we begin, I have to say that I'm a little skeptical concerning Ozwell Australian Vintners. I think this is something Chatham Imports has made up to cash in on the current popularity of Australian chardonnays. They're probably buying bulk from small vineyards and using the Oz label. This is only a guess on my part, but check out the Ozwell Vintners web site if you doubt me.
Anyhow, this southeastern Australian chardonnay is similar to others of that area, but just not as good. There is a distinctive "off" aftertaste, a slight hint of bitterness. Now don't get me wrong. This is still a better jug wine than Almedan chablis. But with Yellowtail, Lindeman's, and a host of others at the same price or less, there's just no reason to go here.
